The healing capacity of Antuan’s very personal vision is captured in this journey through key issues in his life as cartography of experiences, influences, feelings, places, and people. This healing capacity provides the catalyst, for an unexpected personal transformation into a contemporary artist.
Left or Right is a healing project curated by
Marisa Caichiolo. The interactive installation depicts different world leaders and tyrants, and will allow the spectator, through the punching
of the bags, to release anger, hatred and resentment. This release of negative emotions will transform these objects into tools of detoxification and mental healing.
Current global politics has created an environment of disrespect for humanity and our planet. Lack of harmony, senseless war, violence, racism, ignorance, loss of values and principles, lack of consciousness, super egos and demagoguery, corruption, disrespect of women, false promises, and outright lies.
Nevertheless, Antuan’s creative strategy seems beyond the walls of the “white cube.” While keeping prudent distance from alien interests whether political, economic or social, and/or the demands of politicians, sponsors, managers, professionals and large audiences,. Left or Right is an interactive installation composed of punching bags, made for interior and exterior spaces, in strict accordance
with World Boxing Commission regulations. Each punching bag is an individual work of art, part of a limited edition.
Left or Right hangs without expiration date, ready to incorporate new profiles given new time/place requirements. The hanging candidates’ selection is surveyed on the Net. The personages’ physiognomy is silk-screened on each canvas bag and the selection is consonant with the preparatory study a public opinion review done where the project will be shown.
At the “Hard Times” gym visitors can exercise, but as they do so, artistic installations confront them with some major issues of today’s world. Society polarized by opinions on migration and terrorism. Populism. Media and fake news. Welcome to “Hard Times”.
